Russian Vostok Amphibia Neptune 960762 Automatic Dive watch, 200m WR, *UK Stock* Russian Vostok Amphibia Neptune 960762 Automatic Dive watch, 200m WR, *UK Stock* Click image to enlarge Description Vostok watches were formed in 1942 in Chrisopol on the Kama River in Russia. In the 1960’s Vostok started producing watches for the Russian military. First came the “Kommandirskie” brand meaning “Commander” and a while late came the Amphibia brand of dive watches. These classic watches are still produced and have become very collectible as there are so many case and dial designs to collect. 2006 and 2007 saw the launch of a new range of Kommandirskie and Amfibia (note the spelling difference!) watches with updated designs and features. Vostok Russian watches only use mechanical movements. They have used a few over the years, but most common now are the 2415 and 2416B which have 31 jewels and are automatic winding, but can be hand-wound also. Why buy Vostok watches? They’re built like tanks and have stood the test of time Great value for money…reliable mechanical watches at low prices Most watches can have water resistance to 200m (20bar), so you never need to worry about taking it off your wrist when showering, swimming or diving! Huge range and can make a great collection Customisable – there are lots of suppliers of bezels and bracelets to make your Vostok watch unique Vostok watches are a bit quirky and only come with instructions in Russian! So here’s a little help, but there is much more on youtube and the like; just search “How to change date on a Vostok watch” or “how to set the time on a Vostok watch”……it is dead easy J Most of the watches are automatic winding, so just jiggle the watch around a little and you will see the second hand start to move. Hand-winding – first unscrew the crown anti-clockwise. The crown and stem does wobble…this is normal!! You can now wind the watch clockwise whilst in this position. You might need to apply just a little pressure outwards or you will screw the crown back in again. Please note: if you pull the crown out too far you will change the time. If you want to hand-wind you will need to screw in the crown and then start again from “first unscrew the crown”. Changing the time – unscrew the crown and pull it out and you will feel a small click. Turn the crown anti-clockwise to advance the time and clock wise to go back. Yes…you can wind these watches backwards without breaking them. It feels so wrong, but totally OK. Changing the date – there are two ways of doing this. First is just keep winding the hands forward and the day will change every two revolutions of the hour hand on a standard 12 hour dial or one revolution on a 24-hour model. This is Ok if you’re only a few days out. The second method applies to quite a lot of Russian watches. Turn the hour hand until the date changes at 12 o’clock. Then, turn the hands backwards until there is a small “click” on the date indicator (you can usually hear / feel it, too) - usually to about 9 oclock. Then, wind the hands forward to just past 12 o’clock and the date will advance. Repeat until you get the date you require. What you get– a very robust and decent quality Russian Vostok watch with a stainless steel bracelet, leather or silicone strap, a piece of paper with instructions in Russian, warranty and stamp. Most watches come in a plastic box, but some of the newer Amfibias and Kommandirskies come in nicer cardboard boxes (well you are paying a bit more for these ones!). I sell as “New with tags”, but there are no tags on Vostok Russian watches. I guarantee that all of my Vostok Russian watches are 100% genuine and they come directly from Christapol in Russia.
